MIAMI (SEPTEMBER 19, 2023) — The Latin Recording Academy® has announced the nominees for the 24th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards®, the preeminent international honor celebrating excellence in Latin music, and the only accolade awarded by music industry professionals. The Latin Recording Academy's membership body of music creators, who represent all genres and creative disciplines—including recording artists, songwriters, producers, recording engineers and mixers—vote during the awards process.

This year's Song Of The Year category features an exceptional group of creators and artists who reflect the diversity within Latin music and its growing cultural influence worldwide.

In addition, a new field and three categories were added to the Latin GRAMMY® Awards Process this year: Songwriter Of The Year, Best Singer Songwriter Song, and Best Portuguese-Language Urban Performance.

The first group of nominees for the Songwriter Of The Year category features creators working across an array of genres: Édgar Barrera, Kevyn Mauricio Cruz, Felipe González Abad, Manuel Lorente Freire, Horacio Palencia, and Elena Rose.

The Best New Artist category showcases a unique set of nominees, whose diversity reaffirms The Latin Academy's commitment to providing opportunities for all artists. Nominated this year are Borja, Conexión Divina, Ana Del Castillo, Natascha Falcão, Gale, Paola Guanche, Joaquina, Leon Leiden, Maréh, and Timø.

“After evaluating more than 19,000 entries, we are pleased to share the nominees for the twenty fourth edition of the Latin GRAMMYs®,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. “This group of creators reflects musical excellence and the richness of Latin music, and I look forward to celebrating them during Latin GRAMMY Week in Sevilla which will be a truly historic moment for our organization.”

The 24th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards nominees were selected in 56 categories and reflect an expansive range of artists who released recordings during the eligibility period (June 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023). All songs that are considered for nominations must be new songs and contain a minimum percentage of lyric content (51%) in Spanish, Portuguese, or any native regional dialect.

The final round of voting to determine the Latin GRAMMY® winners will begin on September 29, 2023. The 24th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will take place on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Conference and Exhibition Centre (FIBES), in Sevilla, Spain. The telecast will air on Univision in the U.S. and Radio Televisión Española in Spain. Additional international broadcasting partners will be announced soon.

Preceding the telecast will be the Latin GRAMMY Premiere® ceremony, a long-established evening full of unforgettable performances and heartfelt acceptance speeches, where the winners in most categories will be announced.

MIAMI (MAY 22, 2024) — The Latin Recording Academy® announced that Latin GRAMMY® and GRAMMY® winner, Carlos Vives, will be the 2024 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year™.

Vives will be honored for his more than three-decade career as a multifaceted singer and composer, as well as for his continued commitment to environmental and social initiatives.

“Carlos Vives is one of the most prolific and beloved artists of our time, whose commitment to Latin music and support for the new generations truly personifies the values of our Academy,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. “We honor him as our Person of the Year for his vast contributions to our musical heritage and for his many philanthropic initiatives.”

Meanwhile, Vives said, “I am honored and moved to have been chosen as the 2024 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. It is the reward for an authentic journey, for a wonderful team and, above all, it is the recognition of the musical spirits of our Latin American diversity. These spirits taught us to love and enrich our language, to take care of it and to respect it in order to exalt humanity with it.”

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Carlos Vives is one of the most respected artists in Spanish-language music and a pioneer of a new Latin American sound, redefining traditional Colombian vallenato by incorporating pop and rock. He is an 18-time Latin GRAMMY winner and two-time GRAMMY winner—the first Colombian to win the latter award—with more than 10 billion streams on digital platforms, 20 million albums sold, and hits like “La Gota Fría,” “Pa' Mayte,” “La Tierra Del Olvido,” “Fruta Fresca” and “Volví A Nacer”. Vives has become an ambassador of Colombian and Latin American culture around the world, and his commitment also transcends the musical realm. MÁLAGA (SPAIN), MAY 16, 2024 — The Latin Recording Academy®, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Latin GRAMMYs®, presented a Latin GRAMMY® Session in Málaga today, with performances by Latin GRAMMY® winner Pedro Capó and Latin GRAMMY nominees Omar Montes and Morat. The evening was hosted by DJ Pedraza.

The event, which took place at the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, was co-financed by the Programa FEDER Andalucía 2021-2027 and the Regional Government of Andalucía.

As part of The Latin Recording Academy’s mission to promote Latin music and build bridges between countries, musical genres, and cultures, Puerto Rican artist Pedro Capó kicked off the evening by performing some of his most beloved songs including “La Fiesta,” “Tutu,” “Existo,” and his hit “Calma,” winner of two Latin GRAMMYs, including Song Of The Year.

Next, Spanish singer Omar Montes, previously nominated in the Best Flamenco Album category, presented a special arrangement of “Pacquiao”—an unreleased song that he will launch soon—and performed a moving and sensitive rendition accompanied onstage by a twelve-piece string ensemble. He also sang his latest hit, “La Sevillana,” concluding his set with a version of the song “Yo Lo Soñé.”

Colombian band Morat closed out the night with a very special performance that got the audience singing along to their greatest hits, including their Latin GRAMMY-nominated songs “No Se Va,” “Cómo Te Atreves,” “A Dónde Vamos,” “En Solo Un Día,” and “Acuérdate De Mí,” among others.

Also, institutional figures such as Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Málaga, Arturo Bernal, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Regional Government of Andalucía, and José Francisco Salado Escaño, President of the Regional Government of Málaga, attended the event.

Prominent local figures such as Javier Banderas, Chiara, Bárbara Mirjan, Fernando Ramos, Salma and Ana Vera, among others, joined the celebration.

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Paco de Lucía Scholarship, awarded by the Latin Grammy® Cultural Foundation.

The event was produced by Maracena Moreno and the Latin Recording Academy team led by Ayleen Figueras.

This was the second live event that The Latin Recording Academy has hosted in the Community of Andalucía this year, to continue elevating its culture around the world, with a calendar of events that will extend until 2025. This past April, the city of Cádiz ¬hosted the Latin GRAMMY® Celebra: Paco de Lucía event.
