The Latin GRAMMY® Corner

A new effort…

The Latin GRAMMY Corner has been absent from the digital world for quite a long time.

We have been paving the road to improve our website as well as our social media strategies.  We have recruited a new Digital Strategy Manager who will be fully focused in this important area of the organization.

In the meantime, we celebrated the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards with raving success, and produced the Pre-Telecast Awards using the best HD technology available to transmit the ceremony via the web.  It featured performances by Amaury Gutiérrez (Cuba) and Gianmarco (Perú); Jot Dog (México) and Cuartetango (Argentina).  The event was hosted by the Chairman of the Board Luis Cobos, Pasión Vega (Spain), Milly Quezada (Dominican Republic) and Erika Ender (Panamá). We also held the 2012 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year honoring the career of our legendary Caetano Veloso.  This great gala dinner featured musical performances by Natalia La Fourcade, Alexandre Pires, La Mala Rodríguez; Enrique Bunbury, Tania Libertad, Lila Downs, Juan Luis Guerra, Natalie Cole, Juanes, Nelly Furtado, Seu Jorge, Alejandro Sanz and Caetano Veloso…all of them accompanied by an amazing band of great musicians led by Cheche Alara with the musical production of Moogie Canazio and Moonmusic, overall production of Greg Fera, Mario Ruiz and Marcelo Castello Branco and the House Sound Engineer was Gustavo Borner.

Another blue ribbon event was the Special Awards Ceremony, where a group of 300 true VIP music lovers accompanied the Latin Academy in honoring of Leo Dan, Rita Moreno, Milton Nascimento, Daniela Romo, Poncho Sanchez, Luz Casal and Toquinho with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Trustees Awards were presented to one of the great masters of Flamenco, Juan Carmona Habichuela and to the late king of cuatro, Yomo Toro.  A true luxury!

If the previous described events are not enough, our legendary Latin GRAMMY After Party featured by GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY winner Carlos Santana and his amazing band.

In terms of digital success, we have already broken the 1.5 million followers benchmark at Twitter, and are close to reach the 200,000 "likes" in Facebook.  In addition, the Latin GRAMMYs became top trend worldwide during the Latin GRAMMY Awards ceremony for 2nd consecutive year and the hits to our website keep increasing.

But the best experience we have is that related to music.  2012 was a year full of music with acoustic concerts in Rio De Janeiro, New York, Mexico City, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas, our well established Latin GRAMMY Street Parties and Latin GRAMMY in the School events in New York and Miami.  But this is just the beginning…in a few more weeks we will be announcing all the events related to the 14th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards.  We are just around the corner from the 15th Anniversary!  Our young Latin Recording Academy is achieving something great.  15 years! …and we are prepared to pave the road for the next 15!

So we will be close to you in this Corner, and remember, if you are a Member you are part of this organization and we invite you to send us your ideas and questions for our website.
