Latin GRAMMY® winner, singer Susana Baca, a champion of Afro-Peruvian music, has been named Minister of Culture in her native Peru. Newly elected Peruvian President Ollanta Humala, who took office Thursday, named her to the post. Baca becomes the first Afro-Peruvian minister in the country´s history.

The Latin Recording Academy® has elected new officers to its Board of Trustees, it was announced today by Latin Recording Academy President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa Jr.
